Did Alorica take venture capital?
No. In 1999 Andy Lee wrote roughly 50 letters to venture capitalists across Silicon Valley and was rejected by all of them. He started Alorica on $10,000 and never raised a venture dollar.
Instead he funded growth through client prepayments, a community-bank line of credit, cheap debt at around a 2% cost of capital, and roughly 100 acquisitions, without losing control of the cap table. By contrast, his second company, Crescendo, is venture-backed (General Catalyst-led).
